The Gershwin Project! Lucas Debargue’s new CD
18 September 2026 will mark the release of Lucas Debargue’s new double album for Sony Classical, Gershwin Variations. The project brings together several years of research, writing, and performance, culminating in a personal exploration of Gershwin’s musical language.
At the heart of the album stands Debargue’s own 20 Concert Variations & Finale on “Summertime”, a large‑scale composition inspired by Porgy & Bess and already central in his recital activity.
The album unfolds in two complementary parts.
CD 1 presents Gershwin’s major piano works: the Concerto in F with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Elim Chan, the Three Preludes, and a personal reading of Rhapsody in Blue enriched by Debargue’s own cadenzas.
CD 2 features Debargue’s original contributions to the Gershwin repertoire: twelve virtuosic Études inspired by Gershwin’s songs, each written in a different key and shaped through a wide variety of forms, together with the complete cycle 20 Concert Variations & Finale on “Summertime”.
It is possible to listen to the singles already released on the main online platforms and pre‑save the album ahead of its release.
